BIO

I have always thought that there is no more endless subject than one’s own experience. Especially because no one else can speak from a perspective other than one’s own. That is why there is a strong self-referential imprint in every creative field. Thus, I became increasingly interested in themes related to self-representation, paying special attention to the autobiographical as a common thread and trigger for everything in terms of my work.

Burgos (Spain), 1995. Visual artist, researcher and university professor based in Madrid.

He is currently working on his PhD thesis on the self-referential in art and in his own production, combining it with university teaching in the area of Sculpture and Artistic Training, with a contract as Assistant Professor. Recipient until 2022 of the Predoctoral Scholarship for Research Staff in Training awarded by the Complutense University together with Banco Santander. Master’s Degree in “History of Contemporary Art and Visual Culture” offered by the Reina Sofía Contemporary Art Museum together with the Autonomous University of Madrid and the UCM (2017-2019). Extraordinary Prize for the best academic record and National End of Degree Award in Fine Arts, studied at the Complutense University (2013-2017).

As an artist, he has held numerous solo and group exhibitions on the national scene, where he has also carried out curatorial work. His artistic production has earned him the recognition of multiple awards (including the one awarded by the International Festival of Analogue Photography, REVELA’T), as well as the representation of the art galleries Roberta d’ Amore (2021) and Flecha (since 2016). It has also allowed him to participate in artistic creation residencies, such as the one developed in Cáceres in 2017 (Losar de la Vera).

As a researcher he has been part of the R+D+i “Art and embodied cognition in creative processes: ecology consciousness of the self in the environment” (HAR2017-85485-P) of the Complutense University of Madrid (2019-2021), and he is currently a member of the research group “Teaching as artistic practice” (UCM, 970946).

He is also a member of AMACUV, an alumni association derived from the aforementioned master’s degree and aimed at promoting the development of cultural and artistic projects by its members. Since 2015 he has also been linked to “Espacio Vértice”, a platform collectively self-managed by Fine Arts graduates and dedicated to promoting their work together with that of other young artists with common aspirations.

At the same time, he has been a practical training grant holder at the Deanship of the Faculty of Fine Arts in the tasks of coordination, technical assistance, graphic design and communication of the centre’s cultural programme (2018-2020). Collaboration grant holder (Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports) in the Sculpture Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts for the cataloguing, archiving and restoration of the collection of small-format works.
